“Her taste is phenomenal, her eye truly unique, and her ability to layer textures and fabrics is unrivaled: she creates spaces that feel both rich and harmonious,” says the client of Miyar.
For her part, Miyar describes the house as being in “fairly compromised condition” when she started to work on it. The structure had undergone several renovations in previous years that had not respected its architectural heritage and character. “But that’s exactly the kind of brief that allows a strong design vision to come through,” she points out. “From the beginning, it was clear this home had the potential to become something exceptional.”
Her directive was to create an interior that felt light, youthful, and forward-thinking. It also had to reflect the client’s personality, taste, and love of color-saturated interiors.
The client’s openness to color made the project a particularly rewarding one for Miyar. “Color was central to the design,” she says, “but rather than use it as an accent, we explored how saturated tones could define the mood of each space.” Green, for example, is the common theme throughout the house, reflecting its leafy environs and surrounding large garden. In most of the rooms, the hue appears in various guises, whether in the bespoke pendant light in the entrance hall, the Emerald Quartzite stone in the glamorous powder room, or the armchair and green glass coffee tables in the elegant kitchen. The joinery by Lanserring is elevated further by the striking Calacatta marble that covers the island, countertop, and backsplash.
