The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 season has almost reached its end, with only the last round of Super League games and the final left to play.
A long-drawn group stage saw eight teams, the top two from each of the four Elite groups, make it to the Super League: Hyderabad, Haryana, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra and Punjab. The eight teams were subsequently divided into two groups of four, with the top-placed side from both after a round-robin phase to play in the final, scheduled for December 18.

After two games each, Hyderabad lead the Super League Group A handsomely, with two wins and a healthy net run-rate of +2.999. They are yet to play Haryana, second in the group but with an NRR of +0.234, and only a heavy defeat would see the south Indian side get eliminated. Mumbai, meanwhile, are all but eliminated from the final’s race with an NRR of -1.657 despite their four-wicket win over Haryana. Meanwhile, Rajasthan are yet to register a win and are surely out.
Things are a bit tighter in the Super League Group B. Following their close and crucial one-run win over Madhya Pradesh, Ishan Kishan-led Jharkhand sit atop the table with two wins in two games and an NRR of +0.577. Madhya Pradesh, who will rue the missed opportunity against Jharkhand, are second with a win and an NRR of +0.488.
Andhra are third with four points but with a disappointing NRR of -0.371, which more or less has put them out of the race to the final. Punjab have so far lost both their matches in the Super League stage. MP will want to defeat Punjab in their final group game and hope Andhra beat Jharkhand in the other match, while also trying to register a big enough win to get their NRR over Kishan’s team.
All four last-round games will be played on Tuesday, December 16. If the groups finish as they currently stand, Jharkhand and Hyderabad will play the final in Pune.
